Torrents

What is a torrent client, a torrent client is peer-to-peer software that enables you to download large files.

 How does it work?
Well, how do you put this...um, what basically happens is that when you download the file using a torrent client, the file is divided into small pieces and then sent to other computers who who are downloading the same file also using a torrent client. After you download a file, you become a seeder, if you are currently downloading, you're a leach. This is my definition, i reckon its more complicated than that.

Trackers

Torrenting begins and ends at large networking servers known as trackers. Your torrent program (or "client") connects to these servers using a list found in the original .TORRENT file. Trackers have a list of all users connected to it and which files they're able to seed. Your client picks from these users and downloads data from them accordingly. Upon connecting to the tracker, it registers your computer and the files that you yourself are able to seed. Trackers also keep logs of one's ratio--how much your computer uploads, measured against how much your computer downloads--and determines the amount of bandwidth you receive
Torrent files can be downloaded from many torrent sites around the web e.g thepiratebay.org, minova.com, etc.

There are two basic things you should take into account before downloading a torrent (remember that the torrent file isn't the actual file). First is the number of seeders the torrent has, if you're downloading a large file, say, 2-3gb, and it has more than 100 or more seeders than i would recommend that you download it, if it has less than that, than its probably useless to download it since it would probably take you a whole month to download, considering that the number of seeders doesn't reach zero. If the number of seeders are less than 100, and leeches around 500 or more, than your download will be probably much faster.

This is because after the leeches finish download, they become seeders, more leaches means more seeders, as time goes on, the number of seeders will grow. Remember that your torrent client will always prefer seeders, not leeches because seeders have the whole piece of the pie. I guess it all comes down to how fast your internet connection is, connection speed is also an important factor that determines download time.

Secondly, fakes are very common in the torrent community. Before you download a file make sure that it is authentic and free from Trojans, viruses, spyware and other malicious programs. Check comments posted by individuals who have already downloaded the file. This is a probably the best way you check the authenticity of a file. Never download a .rar file unless it has been verified by a downloader. In some cases, people often password protect these files and ask you for something in exchange for the password. Nowdays, torrent sites have strong community of members who review files.

AIMP

AIMP is a full featured free music player, designed with sound quality and wide, customizable functionality in mind. aimp supports up to 20 audio formats, it processes audio in 32-bit giving out enormous quality audio output. The aimp development team just recently released v3.0 beta.
I first downloaded and installed it about six months ago and have been using the portable version on my usb stick, i gotta say, iam quite impressed by the level of performance of this small audio player and i highly recommend this :)

AIMP provides all the basic tools you'd expect from a media player. However, it evolves into something special once you discover its special features. It supports more than 20 audio formats and 32-bit digital audio, and it converts between various formats, too. You can also customize it with Winamp add-ons.

The program's interface felt instantly comforting. Its professional design is sleek, and all its command buttons are simple to navigate. We never felt confused or lost enough to require
a visit to the Help file. The program's functionality isn't anything special because it simply lets you upload MP3s and play CDs using its standard controls. We had no problems doing either, and we were pleased with its crisp sound quality. However, this program came into its own with its lush variety of features. Its 16-band graphic equalizer was nice, but we only noticed
a difference in sound when we used the presets. It also offered an Auto Shutdown feature where we could customize the time limit and action for shutting the program down. Most impressively, there was a feature for recording online radio, just like holding a tape deck up to the stereo in the old days. With all its pieces adding up to a superior product, we enjoyed every minute of using this program.

AIMP is freeware. It comes as a compressed file and leaves folders upon uninstalling.
While its functionality is pretty standard, its features impressed us, and we recommend this program.
